Hilary Fritsch, DMD
Dr. Hilary Fritsch grew up in Michigan, graduated from college in Colorado and then went on to graduate from dental school at the nationally respected Temple University School of Dentistry in 2006. Temple is known for providing students with high volumes of hands on experience, and is very well respected in the dental community. She went on to practice in the Boston area for four years while her husband was doing his anesthesia residency and fellowship at one of the Harvard hospitals. After having their first child, Dr. Fritsch and her husband moved to Carmel, where she practiced for over three years as an independent contractor before opening her own practice. Dr. Fritsch decided that she had something unique to offer patients, and has been working hard to make Carmel Family Dental a place where something different and better is happening. She spends a lot of time on continuing education and is a big follower of the SPEAR Institute in Scottsdale. She also values creating a team of of specialists and dentists that can work cooperatively to achieve more for patients. She understands the connection between oral health and complete body health.
Dr. Fritsch and her husband have two children, a bernese mountain dog, chickens and two cats. She enjoys spending time outdoors with her family hiking or at the beach or pool. Dr. Fritsch decided that if she is going to be away from her family and pouring her time and energy into work, then is better be for something extraordinary; something she can really be proud of. She also wants to work in an environment that is comfortable and esthetic. This means Carmel Family Dental is a comfortable environment for everyone. But, most importantly, Dr. Fritsch knows the importance of building a team that all have that same vision and want to take their time to provide you with customized, ultra attentive care.
Anne Simonsen, DMD
Dr. Anne Simonsen was born and raised in Mankato, Minnesota. While growing up in the midwest, she was a competitive figure skater and would spend summers training in Sun Valley, Idaho. She attributes both her midwest upbringing, and her early dedication to the sport of figure skating, to the development of a life-long passion for excellence. After graduating from Loyola high school, she went on to earn her undergraduate degree in Biology with a minor in Psychology from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. During her time in college, Dr. Simonsen was an active volunteer in the local community, tutoring disadvantaged children in math and science, and performing cell biology research at the University of Minnesota. After college, Dr. Simonsen went on to pursue her dream of becoming a dentist. She graduated from the Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Healthís inaugural class of 2007, receiving her Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree along with a certificate in Public Health from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
After dental school, Dr. Simonsen spent nine years serving as a public health dentist. Dr. Simonsen has worked as a contract dentist for the military, performing dentistry on the men and women who serve our country while married to her husband serving in the US Navy. She has most recently spent over three years serving the underserved in a community health center in the Central Valley of California. Dr. Simonsen keeps up-to-date with the latest dental technology by taking continuing education courses to enhance her knowledge and skills, in order to provide her patients with the most up-to-date, and best possible care. She believes that the mouth is the gateway to the body, and good oral health is imperative for good overall health.
Dr. Simonsen is married to a naval aviator who served a tour as a demonstration pilot for the U.S. Navy Blue Angels 2010-2012 as Opposing Solo and Lead Solo pilot. She and her husband have two children. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Simonsen enjoys spending time with her family at the beach, traveling, cooking, hiking and photography. Dr. Simonsen, along with the entire Carmel Family Dental team, take pride in putting the patientís oral health first. She and her family are excited to call Carmel home and joining Carmel Family Dental is a wonderful fit.
Matthew Fritsch, MD
Board Certified Cardiac Anesthesiologist
Dr. Matthew Fritsch is a board-certified anesthesiologist that is licensed by the Dental Board of California to provide anesthesia to dental patients. He received his anesthesia training at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. As a resident in the Harvard Medical School system, he served as a clinical fellow in anesthesia. He also completed a cardiothoracic anesthesia fellowship at Harvard and currently practices cardiac anesthesia locally.
Dr. Fritsch graduated from Temple University school of medicine and completed his internal medicine internship at Pennsylvania Hospital. He graduated from Harvard University as an undergraduate in psychology and pre-medical sciences.
Dr. Fritsch practices anesthesia at the Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula and outpatient surgery centers in Monterey, Salinas, and Santa Cruz. Dr. Fritsch is also currently the Chair of his anesthesia group. He believes that although operations and procedures may span the spectrum from minor to major, the approach to anesthesia should always be based on the patient's comfort needs. For patients needing anesthesia services for dental procedures, Dr. Fritsch will tailor his anesthetic care to the patient's specific needs.
